چکیده
U) This is the final report for a study performed for the 1992 LDRD spaceborne SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) study. This report presents an overview of some of the issues that must be considered for design and implementation of a SAR on a spaceborne platform. The issues addressed in this report include: a survey of past, present, and future spaceborne SARS; pulse-repetition frequency (PRF); general image processing issues; transmitter power requirements; the ionosphere; antennas; two case studies; and an appendix with a simplified presentation on geometry and orbits. This work performed at Sandia National Laboratoriessupported by the U. S. Department of Energy under contract DE-AC04-76DPO0789.

An Adaptive Ship Detection Scheme for Spaceborne SAR Imagery
With the rapid development of spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and the increasing need of ship detection, research on adaptive ship detection in spaceborne SAR imagery is of great importance. Focusing on practical problems of ship detection, this paper presents a highly adaptive ship detection scheme for spaceborne SAR imagery. It is able to process a wide range of sensors, imaging mod...
متن کاملSpecial Issue on Polarimetric SAR Techniques and Applications
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) polarimetry is an active and fruitful field of research in Earth observation. Polarimetry provides sensitivity to the soil moisture, as well as to the structural and geometric properties of the targets under observation, allowing a more accurate identification and classification than with non-polarimetric data. Moreover, the increasing number of spaceborne SAR sys...

Abstract—Digital beamforming (DBF) on receive in elevation with a large receiving antenna will be widely adopted in future spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) missions to improve system performances. Furthermore, DBF can be used to separate echoes corresponding to different sub-pulses in some novel spaceborne SAR imaging modes. This paper proposes an improved DBF processor with a large re...

Current advanced spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems may operate at multiple imaging modes, including conventional modes as stripmap, ScanSAR and spotlight, as well as the state-of-the-art SAR modes, e.g., sliding spotlight, TOPS (Terrain Observation by Progressive Scans) and inverse TOPS etc. A novel image formation scheme for unified processing spaceborne SAR data was proposed, ...
متن کاملMultimode Hybrid Geometric Calibration of Spaceborne SAR Considering Atmospheric Propagation Delay
The atmospheric propagation delay of radar signals is a systematic error that occurs in the atmospheric environment, and is a key issue in the high-precision geometric calibration of spaceborne SAR. A multimode hybrid geometric calibration method for spaceborne SAR that considers the atmospheric propagation delay is proposed in this paper. Error sources that affect the accuracy of the geometric...
